Individual and Relationship Counselling

Because love shouldn't be conditional

I’m a mother, an ADHD-er and I'm on my own journey healing from adverse childhood experiences that led me into toxic romantic relationships. Because how we were loved as children defines how we expect to be loved as adults.

My challenges make me passionate about supporting people overcome adversity to build respectful, safe and loving relationships.

I firmly believe we are a product of our past, the relationships and experiences we have had shape who we are and how we understand the world. They also create the rulebook from which we understand

ourselves and relationships.

I can support you to understand how your past relationships and experiences may be preventing you from being the partner, parent or person you want to be.

Who I work with

I work with adults individually or in relationships (2:1) to gain insight into the deeper issues behind your struggles in relationship with yourself and others.

When the things that drive us live in

the shadows of shame or hidden in our unconscious, we can’t make space for

consistent change.

Just like reading a map you can’t plan a journey if you don’t

know where you are yet.

Image of two armchairs facing the counsellors chair, there is acoffee table on a large orange rug and a small side cabinet with flours. Behind the chairs are large windows letting in natural light.

How I work

Lots of people arrive to counselling desperate to let everything they’ve been holding in come spilling out. This can feel cathartic at first but often leads to feeling stuck in counselling, like you’re going round in circles.

Together we’ll slow your story down and take a deeper look at repeated patterns, expectations and beliefs to understand what is keeping you:

  • In Toxic Relationships
  • In Anxiety and Low-Self Esteem
  • In Conflict
  • From being the parent you want to be
  • being overwhelmed by big emotions

How Counselling Can Help

When we have a better understanding of what is keeping you stuck, we will also make space for change to occur so you can:

  • Feel safe, respected and worthy in your relationships
  • Build confidence and boost self-esteem
  • Communicate healthily and resolve conflict
  • Set boundaries that protect your worth
  • Regulate big feelings with compassion

Did you know there’s a counselling approach designed specifically for neurodivergent individuals one that leaves stigma and blame behind and instead offers acceptance, understanding, and tailored support? In this post, we explore the key differences between traditional counselling and neuro-affirming counselling, and why the latter can be transformative. We also discuss how neurodivergence is often only disabling because of the systems we live in, not because of the individual.
Stop Avoiding Anxiety to Stop feeling Anxious
Avoiding Anxiety can feel like the only solution, but what is its actually a part of the problem. In this post I help you to understand what anxiety is and how avoidance could be making your anxiety worse, not better. Where is Your Counselling Practice in Godalming, Surrey?

My therapy room is in central Godalming. You’ll find it just off the High Street, down a short cobbled path. It’s tucked away from the bustle, offering a quiet and private space for counselling.

If you’re driving, you can park for free in Sainsbury’s (for up to 2 hours) or Waitrose (for up to 90 minutes). It’s also just a short walk from local car parks, including Crown Court Car Park, Queen Street Car Park, and Waverley Council Office Car Park.

I have use of two therapy rooms, both are on the first floor and accessed by stairs. When you arrive, there’s a small waiting area, and usually someone at the front desk who are happy to help if you need anything before your session. If you need ground floor access this can be arranged too.

How Do I Pay for Counselling Sessions?

Once we’ve got your session booked in, payment is requested at booking and can be made by bank transfer. For in person sessions I can accept cash payments if preferred. Invoices can be arranged upon request.

How Does Online Counselling Work?

Once your appointment is booked, you’ll receive an email with all the details, including a secure Zoom link to join your session.

On the day, simply click the link a few minutes before your appointment to join our virtual waiting room.

Individual sessions last 50 minutes and couples sessions are either 60 or 90 minutes. They usually take place on a weekly basis at the same time each week, just like in-person counselling.

Online counselling offers a convenient and comfortable way to receive support from home or anywhere you feel safe.

Are Counselling Sessions Confidential and Private?

Yes. Confidentiality is a core part of counselling. Everything you share during our sessions is held in strict confidence, within the limits of the law and ethical guidelines.

I adhere to professional standards set by counselling bodies to keep your information safe and secure. This includes secure storage of records and private, confidential sessions whether in person or online.

The only times confidentiality may be broken are in situations where there is a risk of harm to you or others, or when legally required. If we do identify a risk, where possible we'll work together to decide how best to manage it. This will usually be by deciding what other service we might need to support us.

If you have any questions or concerns about confidentiality, please feel free to ask.

Do You Offer Weekend Counselling Appointments?

If you're seeking counselling outside of working hours, I offer early sessions at 7am as well as Sundays mornings. My availability changes often, get in touch to find out what spaces are free and to find a time that works for you.

How Many Counselling Sessions Will I Need?

The number of counselling sessions you’ll need depends entirely on you and your unique situation. Everyone’s journey is different, so it’s hard to say an exact number upfront.

Throughout our work together, we’ll regularly reflect on your progress and how things are going, adjusting the pace as needed to support your goals.

Ultimately, you’re in charge of your counselling journey, you can stay for as long or as little as feels right for you.

Do You Offer Concessions or Fortnightly Counselling?

At times I can offer a reduced fee for online counselling sessions. Unfortunately I'm not able to offer in person sessions at a reduced rate.

I have found that fortnightly sessions are most effective once we've been able to establish our relationship, I ask that we meet weekly for the first 6 sessions before reducing to fortnightly.
